Lizzie McDuffie served as housekeeper for the Inman family for thirty years with four of those years in the Swan House, Atlanta, Georgia. Her husband, Irvin "Mac" McDuffie, worked in Alonzo Herndon's barbershop until 1927 when he began working for Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1927 at Warm Springs, Georgia.
